Buro Buro Springs Vermi Farm is a premier agro-tourism destination of the Philippines. Situated in the foothills of Talisay City in Negros Occidental, it is the first certified organic farm in the Philippines by NICERT (Negros Island Certifiication Services). It is a vertically and horizontally integrated farm which produces organic fertilizers, organic vegetables, organic fruits and organic herbal supplements as well as providing training and consultancy services for farms and organizations. The farm is considered to be the primary training center for Vermiculture and Vermicomposting in the Philippines and has been visited by thousands of visitors from all over the country. All of the farm’s fertilizers, vegetables, fruits, herbs and herbal supplements are certified organic according to Philippine National Standards. It is also considered the home of the African Nightcrawler Worm ( Eudrilus Eugeniae), being the pioneering commercial breeding farm for these in the country. Buro Buro Springs Vermi Farm has been supplying these worms to Philippine farms since 1998. Buro Buro Springs Vermi Farm is a founding member of the Negros Island Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development (NISARD) Foundation – a member organization of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) which is an umbrella organization of the organic movement uniting 750 organizations in 116 countries worldwide. It is also a founding member of Organik na Negros Organic Producers and Retailers Association (ONOPRA) and the Negros Island Organic Fertilizer Producer’s Association (NIOFPA). It supports the vision of making Negros Island the organic food basket of Southeast Asia as well as the reduction of the global carbon footprint through sustainable agriculture methods.
